Upper Oldman River
Intimate upper Oldman water along Highway 40. Wild cutthroat, bull trout in the deeper pools.
Castle River
Wadeable Oldman tributary, with a remote West sector and easier East access. Mostly cutthroat.
Crowsnest River
Fish the Crowsnest River on foot with a local guide and be prepared for action.
Cataract Creek

I’ve been fly fishing for 40 years and guiding for more than 25. Today I’m your Alberta fly fishing guide, and most days I’m on the water with Becky, my French spaniel, a hunting dog from Perdrioles Kennel. My goal is simple: put you on wild trout in beautiful water, and teach you something along the way. I guide in English and in French.

Alberta fly fishing guide: your questions
Yes. In Alberta, you need a Wildlife Identification Number (WiN) before you can buy a fishing licence. You can get both online at AlbertaRELM.com, and I’ll walk you through it when you book.
Rods, reels, flies and guiding, plus a free photo and video package of your day. I’ll tell you what to wear for your river when you book.
No. I teach casting, reading the water and spotting fish, at your pace. Beginners are welcome, and so are experienced anglers looking for quiet water.
One to three anglers per guide, so everyone gets time on the water and my attention.
The season opens June 16. Requests start in December, and June, July and August fill up first, so book early to get your preferred date.
A non-refundable deposit holds your date: $200 for a half day, $350 for a full day and $500 for the 2-day trip. If you need to change your date, tell me at least 7 days ahead and we’ll move it to another available date this season or later, at my discretion. With less than 7 days’ notice or a no-show, the deposit is forfeited. If I have to cancel for weather, unsafe water or an unforeseen reason, I’ll offer a new date or a full refund. The balance is due on the day, in cash (CAD).
Yes. Tell me which river you’d like when you book. I’ll confirm it based on water levels, the season and your experience. If conditions aren’t right, I’ll suggest the best alternative nearby, so you still get a great day. Not sure? I’ll pick the best water for you.
